Chapter 3

nanowrimo_participant_icon_small21The PC gives me lots of trouble, the key board seems does not function well. I try to have it restarted but it failed again. If i were to phone the IT department, those itchy fellows will certainly say that I am trying to get John closer to me. Huh, how on earth that getting a teachnician to work on your computer would call for so many problems.

Perhaps, you need to take a sip of a cup of coffee before I tell you why those people in the IT department like to bad-mouth about me, oh, nope, not me only, almost all people who wanted John to inspect the computer would certain get a few extra comments from those who feel that John is being the target for sexual exploitations. S

For anyone, yes, any normal person, it is a very natural behaviour to get someone to do the task if the person is friendly. Fine, John is such wonderful person. He seldom gets annoyed even though he has to explain many times, for example, the Head of the Account, Mrs. Choo, would have to take the pillow and blanket to the office so that you could made her understand what is a computer problem like the keyboard function errors. The keyboard has to be replaced otherwise the computer will be a white elephant.

No one can blame Mrs. Choo, can you? She is in charge of the account, the profit line must all the time be higher than the previous months. Anyone in the account department for that long years of service would have taken in the habit. Even if the boss did not pressure the account department, for the benefit of the company, a staff should all the time think of the benefit of the company. This is a golden rule that most staff would silently keep it in the heart. Mrs. Choo is one of the pioneer of the company, she has witnessed the rise and the fall of the company. As she always reminds us that life is such a confusion. She never forgets the nine months without salary during the economy recession in the 80s. She came through the time and now she is still haunted by the devil of the economy.

All the gossips about John and Mrs. Choo were once making her going insane. How these people could let the tongue wagging into the poor old lady whose son was perished in the car accident and the daughter ran off with a Malay man. Now, she has to take care of her husband, who once upon a time had betrayed her to illegally stay with a Malay divorcee.

This is a very complicated family story, it needs time to tell and it needs time solve. Well, I shall read more of the James Bond books, perhaps, this could retold the story with some juice and spice.

‘Hello, John,’

‘John has gone out ,’ the thin shallow showed in front of me was Mrs. Choo. I was t little shocked because John was on the other end of the line. ‘ That is not John, Min Yew is replacing John for all the incoming call.’ Mrs. Choo as if could read my mind that I did not believe what she had told me. Perhaps, my suspicious was clearly written on my face. Whatever it went, I still had to respect her as senior staff and put the phone receiver down.

‘The company will send him to East Timur next week.’ Mrs. Choo came closer to me and put her index finger in the middle of her dried red lips . She pressed her voice down. “The boss is opening a branch there.’

‘Isn’t this a good news ?’ I looked at the wrinkles of Mrs. Choo and all of the sudden realized that time was such a cruel creature. It could take away the beauty of a person just in a twinkling of an eye. Mrs. Choo should be a very beautiful lady when she was in her youth. If she went to the beauty contest, maybe the most prestigious title like Miss Malaysia or Miss Universe, I was quite certain that she would get good placing. Time had strangely twisted her life.

‘No, the boss wants to keep it a secret. You don’t tell anyone-wor.’ Mrs. Choo reminded me one more time before she left for the kitchennete . I was certain that Mrs, Choo again did not have lunch. She again packed the left-over from her house. It would be no one to be at home except the disable husband who is now paralysed waist down. He fell down from the roof of the house while he was repairing the house. But, some rumours were flying around saying that he was a peeping tom. He was trying to peetp the neighbour young woman in the bathroom having her afternoon bath. However, Mrs. Choo was not bothered by the words. She still loved her husband much.
